Shabbat or Saturday?

Shabbat or Saturday?

For centuries, since God the Father created the earth and rested on the seventh day, the Jewish people have celebrated Shabbat (Sabbath day).

The rest of the world calls it Saturday, which according to Gemini is named after a Roman god.

“The word Saturday has a unique origin compared to the rest of the week. While most days of the week in English are named after Germanic or Old Norse gods (like Thursday for Thor), Saturday retains its roots in Roman mythology.

Etymology Breakdown

• Latin Roots: It comes from the Latin Saturni dies, which literally translates to "Day of Saturn."

• Old English Transition: In Old English, this became Sæturnesdæg.

• The Deity: It is named after Saturn (Cronus in Greek mythology), the Roman god of agriculture, liberation, and time.

Hmmm.

Makes one think which god we will follow.

God the Father, the Living God of Israel, is the One I seek, know, and walk in His ways.

Who Am I? by Steve Martin

Who Am I?

Men in general tend to hold back when called upon to do as the Lord told them to do. Moses is a case in point.

But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11, NASB

All kinds of excuses will come to the surface as to why we can’t do it. “I am too old, too young, not enough time, why pick me?”

“Let someone else do it!” (A favorite among men, even if not said aloud. Especially if they are “retired”.)

Paul even spoke to the young men, Timothy in particular, “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.” (I Timothy 4:12, NASB)

Maybe we should act like Mary, when the Lord called her to do something beyond her “known” ability?

And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38. NASB)

Men, it is time we sought the Lord, hear His voice, and take our place as we have been called to do.

Who am I? The one who the Lord has assigned for His specific job to be done, and you specifically, are the one to do it.

Ahava and shalom.

Three More Amigos

(L-R) Steve Martin, David Lauka, Keith Devera)

Three More Amigos

Men (not so much women as I can tell) normally don’t have strong bonds. We tend to be “loners” and I have not yet totally figured out why.

But I have found over many decades of life that when men have a common goal, something to “build together” or team up to accomplish a certain endgame, that real relationships are formed. For many, they last for a lifetime, as in the case of “Band of Brothers” - whether that be during wartime or on the sports field, or working together to “finish the job and get the reward.”

I am encouraged when I read the exploits of David, Jesus, Paul - who picked leaders from among men to lead the people.

“David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. And David [a]departed from Baale-judah, with all the people who were with him, to bring up from there the ark of God which is called by the Name, the very name of the Lord of armies who is enthroned above the cherubim.” 2 Samuel 6:1-3 (NASB)

In Luke 6:13 it reads of our Lord Jesus,  “And when day came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also  named as apostles…”

Men will again be chosen to lead in their families and areas needing the return of them to the forefront.

The days of just sitting back and letting others do it are over. Three more amigos and beyond!

John Fetterman fans and President Trump

🙏 God… today for the first time in my life I am asking You for something. And please do not say no to me today. Because this is not for me. This is for President Trump. And I need You to hear this. God — please watch over him. Because he does not watch over himself. He does not eat properly. He does not sleep enough. He does not rest. He does not slow down. Not for one single day.

He is always in a meeting, always traveling, always saying yes when anyone needs him, always showing up when America calls — no matter what time, no matter what day, no matter what it costs him personally.

And God — I am scared. Because a man who never stops giving eventually has nothing left to give. And we cannot afford to lose what Donald Trump gives this country every single day. So today I am on my knees asking You — please protect his health.

Please protect his strength. Please give him the energy that no human being can manufacture on their own. Please watch over him the way he watches over us.

Because God — You know better than anyone that a president like this does not come twice in a lifetime. Maybe not even once in a generation. And You gave him to us.

And today I want to say thank You for that. From the bottom of my heart. Thank You for giving my country a man like Donald Trump.

And please — keep him. Keep him strong. Keep him healthy. Keep him going. Because America needs him. And so do I. 😭🙏🇺🇸

Drop a ❤️ and Type “GOD PLEASE PROTECT AND KEEP PRESIDENT TRUMP STRONG” below. Tag every American today who wants to join this prayer — because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply ask God to take care of the man who takes care of all of us.

“Mighty Men of God” by Steve Martin

Mighty Men of God

The Lord has a heart for men. He created us to be leaders, start families, explore the world and take His love to those who have yet to hear and know.

But men have lost their way. They have abdicated their roles while letting others take charge. Sometimes forsaking what they have been called to do while seeking entertainment, self-fulfillment and wallowing in self-love.

We need to come back and be men. We need to lead, instruct, overcome and have victory over anything that has taken us off the righteous path.

Men need to be men again. Not “mothered”, “pampered”, or “wimpy wimps.”

I like what Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has done to bring back our armed services as they were when the Greatest Generation lived. When the fight needs to happen, fighters are ready for the battle.

Phil Keaggy, gifted guitarist among the top of his day, had this song on his album in the 1980s. Men need to rise up once again.

David assembled his mighty men. We must rise up and do the same - for our families, our cities, our nation.

  1. “Now David assembled at Jerusalem all the officials of Israel, the leaders of the tribes, and the commanders of the divisions that served the king, the commanders of thousands, and the commanders of hundreds, and the overseers of all the property and livestock belonging to the king and his sons, with the officials and the mighty men, all the valiant warriors.” 1Chronicles 28:1, NASB
Rise up o men of God!

Our role as Christians

Our role as Christians to the Jews:

Isaiah 49:22

22 This is what the Lord God says:

“Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations
And set up My flag to the peoples;
And they will bring your sons in their arms,
And your daughters will be carried on their shoulders.“

The Messiah has already come.

The Messiah, Yeshua HaMashiah, has already come. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to redeem us to the Father. He suffered, died, and rose, fulfilling the Jewish prophecies for the coming Messiah's redemption.

We celebrate the hope, promises, and fullfilment of what more is yet to come.

Happy Resurrection Day!
