“An Angel…or More Proof of God’s Live” by Steve Martin

An Angel…or More Proof of God’s Love

On Saturday night, May 30, 2026, after we got home from the Jon Reddick “Night of Worship” concert in Charlotte, NC, around 7:30pm, a knock came at the front  door. Before I answered it I looked out the upper door window (as I normally do in case I don’t  want to open it) but a young man standing there saw me. So I opened the door.

He had a Bible in his hand. I thought, “Mormon” but there was not another one. (They normally go out in twos.)

He told me his name, complimented me on the small 12” x 24” flag we have hanging on the porch by the door (“As for me and my house…” which also has our Martin family name on it), and then without further words or hesitation opened his Bible and started reading from Matthew 6:25-34, the passage of the Lord Jesus speaking about worry and His provision for us.

I wasn’t quite sure where this was going, but he continued reading, looking at me occasionally.

When he finished reading the lengthy passage, he asked me if I had any worries. I told him of my upcoming month long ministry trip to Texas on Monday, June 1 with Christian Friends of Israel; my broken shoulder from five weeks ago, and a few other concerns. I guess I just trusted him.

He then asked if he could pray for me. I said, “Yes.”

He took my hand and prayed a very good prayer. Then he looked up and said he liked our home and our faith.

Before he walked away, I asked him if he liked to read. He said, “Well, the Bible.” So I took that as a “yes” and gave him two of my latest books, “Back To Jerusalem” and “Morning Place To Be”.

And then he walked away.

Laurie, sitting in the other room, heard it all.

To myself I said, “Was that an angel?!” And then thanked the Lord for this young man.

“Thank You, Lord. You know all our concerns and You do whatever it takes to show Your love for us.”

True story.

“Walk On. Complete Your Destiny and Leave a Legacy” by Steve Martin

Walk On. Fulfill Your Destiny and Leave a Legacy

As I looked at the early morning stars, at least in my hemisphere at that hour, the Spirit of the Lord gave me some inspiration.

I had noticed an image on Facebook of a t-shirt bearing the image of an old(er) man walking onward, with the saying, “Never underestimate a man traveling on in his seventies.”

Simple things like this are used by the Lord in my life to let His gifts flow. And so, from that t-shirt image it resulted in the one included with this message. A man walking on a stone trail towards Jerusalem, pulling a cart with his books. (Which happen to be mine!) Yeah, Lord!

Each of us has been called, given gifts, and asked to take His love to our generation.

Every niche, every facet of life, needs to be touched by the love of Jesus Christ.

We have been saved to fulfill His destiny He has for us, and leave a legacy for the next generation(s) to know and follow.

Be blessed as you too seek Him today. Find and know your destiny. Walk in it. Leave a legacy that glorifies our Lord Jesus.

“We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.” Colossians 1:28, NASB

Press On by Steve Martin

Press On

Looking at that covered wagon, a prairie schooner, in the small Waxhaw, North Carolina museum got me to thinking about what character those people had to have. As I leaned over the side, on my toes to see high enough, I became in awe of their grit, courage, and fortitude.

They had little in regards to physical means. And yet they pressed on with their imbedded character.

Entire families, moving with what they owned and could fit in that space, set out for a more hopeful future.

According to Gemini, “a classic Western covered wagon, known as a Prairie Schooner, featured a wooden box that was about 4 feet wide and 9 to 11 feet long. With the canvas cover attached, the wagon stood about 10 feet tall and spanned 23 feet in total length including the animal yoke and tongue.”

Not much. But they did what they had to do, with what they had.

We got it made with our cushioned seats, power steering, more horse power than we need A/C vehicles, which can drive hundreds of miles in a single day.

We need more of their “press on” attitude in our comfortable lives. To be able to see ahead, commit to getting it done, and believing the good Lord will bless the work of our hands is needed more today than even then.

“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13, NASB

I hope you are too. Press on!

Confidence by Steve Martin

Confidence

“For You are my hope; Lord God, You are my confidence from my youth.”Psalm 71:5, NASB

Lack of confidence can hold you back, keep you from growing in faith, afraid that if you step out and do something for the Lord you will fall, fail, and look foolish to everyone.

I had that concern in my school days, and even into my adult years. Because of low self-esteem, putting myself “beneath others”, I lacked the courage to do at times what I knew I should have done.

I let the fear of man, the opinion of others, dictate what I did or how I did it.

But the time came when the Lord said to me, “Either you live by what others think and say or you do what I say and do. Your choice. Who will you serve?”

It is a decision you have to make. Will you serve man, the fear of man, or will you chose to serve the Lord, and do what He has called you to do?

When I made that decision, to serve Him above all, even as I served in ministry with leaders who sometimes didn’t have my best in mind, the Lord gave me the courage, and with it the confidence, to say and do what is written in His Word.

Having that strong foundation, that trust in Him, gave me the confidence I needed to hear His voice, chose to walk in His ways, and even receive the reward He promises as we do.

Who will you choose to heed? The fear of man or trust in the One who created you?

Confidence grows in us as we hear and obey, and see the results. There is nothing shady about it. Our Lord has proven over and over again that His way is always the way we need to choose.

It needs to be a firm decision on your part – choosing man’s way or His way.

God is our hope. Have your confidence grow in His love for you. He has your back.

Treasue These Times

It is a joy when our family gets together for special occasions, be it holidays, birthdays, “We Bless You” days, and more.

I especially use the occasions to update my photo album(s) and never miss those opportunities.

Capture the moments! Remember them as you look back in later years. You will see the goodness of the Lord Jesus in your life.

All Men Rise Up! - new book by Steve Martin

Buy now on Amazon paperback $7.95: All Men Rise Up! by Steve Martin

When men understand who they are, they accomplish things that they were created to be and do.

This book seeks to encourage those men who know our current culture needs to return to godly principles, biblical foundations, and healthy families.

We need to walk in the steps the Lord, Father of All, gave us to heed, as we hear and obey.

While this book is not a full Bible study on the role of men, taught by a man who has lived for over seven decades, it is an encouragement to seek the Lord, know His ways as we daily walk with Him, and succeed in the calling He has for each of us.

I share some of what I have learned, as the Bible instructs us to do.

“The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful
men who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2, NASB.

Put into practice then what you can, and allow the Holy Spirit to continue to instruct and encourage you along the way.

Choices We Make by Steve Martin

Choices We Make

When the Lord woke me up early this morning (no, it wasn’t the late night snack), He had me answer the WhatsApp on my phone from Jerusalem.

In the written conversation, the response came back to me when sharing about the choices we make, and where those decisions take us in the Lord.

Their response back, when I told of the purpose for this trip to Colorado…

“I hear that!!! I love both places but for us we can choose which. That is a different issue! My heart is split because of family…period.” She knew the cost which she had chosen to pay, the one to hear and obey.

My come back, “The Lord blesses us for the choices we make. Difficult choices but great rewards.”

After writing that I tried going back to sleep (1 am) but the Holy Spirit then spoke words from His Word to me as I lay there. So I got up to look up the full Scripture.

Peter said, “Behold, we have left our own homes and followed You.”

And He said to them, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God,  who will not receive many times as much at this time, and in the age to come, eternal life.” Luke 18: 28-30, NASB

That was a tough response to hear regarding the deep, heart known statement Peter had just said to the Lord Yeshua (Jesus).

In some ways, I think Peter’s wife would have desired a different answer from Jesus, as her heart and life were tremendously affected by Peter’s decision to follow Him as he had already chosen to do so. (I can picture it  now in The Chosen episode.)

Our choices will always affect those closet to us. So what will we do?

You have already made choices. In the late 1980s a pastor in Michigan spoke boldly in his message, “A choice you make today may not seem as not a big deal,, but that decision you make determines where you will be in 20-30 years from now, however small or large.”

And so He continues to direct our steps, if we continue to make the hard choices after His heart is known. But the reward is great!
